Bo, SIERRA LEONE – The All People’s Congress (APC), Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, has officially broken ground for the construction of a new Southern Regional office in Bo, marking what party leaders described as a significant milestone in their strategic growth ahead of the 2028 elections.
Held at the Kanga Section along the Bo/Kenema Highway, the groundbreaking ceremony drew an impressive gathering of party stalwarts, including Deputy National Chairman Ambassador Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, National Secretary-General Lansana Dumbuya Esq., Regional Chairperson Madam Haja Isatu Bah Kamara, Freetown Mayor Madam Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yaya Tunis, and other influential figures from district, regional, and national levels.
Madam Haja Isatu Bah Kamara, the party’s Southern Regional Chairperson, announced during the event that the modern office complex is expected to be completed within six months. “It will be an ultramodern facility,” she said, “with a standard, conducive conference hall and administrative spaces to support both district and regional executives in their work.” The facility will also serve as a venue for major party meetings and activities.
Ambassador Yansaneh, visibly delighted by the start of the project, extended heartfelt thanks to long-time APC supporter Momodu Maligie for donating the land. He also commended other senior party members for their financial and material contributions. “This is a collective project,” he said. “We need everyone’s participation to make it a success.”
Underscoring the significance of the event, Ambassador Yansaneh declared: “This groundbreaking is more than symbolic—it is a clear message that the APC remains a strong and formidable force. We are preparing on all fronts to reclaim leadership in 2028, and this office in Bo, deep in an SLPP stronghold, is a testament to our resolve.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Secretary-General Lansana Dumbuya Esq. applauded the party’s boldness. “It’s not just about a building,” he said. “It’s about showing strength, unity, and our commitment to our supporters in the South. We must all come together and work towards our collective victory.”
Regional Secretary Legacy Sankoh noted that the office will eliminate the need for rented spaces, which often hampered smooth operations. “Having our own space is not just about comfort—it’s a strategic move that fosters party unity and operational efficiency,” he stated.
Speaker after speaker underscored the importance of the new office in positioning the APC for success in the 2028 elections. The message was clear: unity, purpose, and preparation are at the heart of the APC’s forward march.
The occasion was also graced by notable figures including Hon. Cherinor Bah (Chericoco), Dr. Kaifala Marah, Hon. Daniel Koroma, Africanus Sesay, Maya Moiwo Kaikai, Joseph F. Kamara (JFK), and other senior party members.
Once completed, the APC Southern Regional Office in Bo is expected to serve as a vibrant political hub for coordination, community engagement, and party strengthening—a symbol of resilience and readiness in the heart of the South. PK/11/5/2025
