Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In an exciting opener to the 2024 SLFA Women’s Division One Playoff, Ascentonians FC delivered a commanding 5-1 victory over Rising Queens on Tuesday, 5th November 2024, at the SLFA Academy Field in Kingtom.
The match began with an early shock as Rising Queens took the lead in the 10th minute, thanks to a brilliant strike from Maseray Turay. However, Ascentonians FC quickly responded, with Princes Bangura levelling the score at 1-1 in the 32nd minute. Just before the break, Ascentonians took the lead with a well-taken goal from Mariama Soumah in the 39th minute, ending the first half with a 2-1 advantage.
In the second half, Ascentonians FC dominated the play, pushing forward with an offensive mindset. Aminata Massaquoi extended their lead in the 63rd minute, before Soumah added her second goal of the game in the 79th minute, making it 4-1. Fatu Kamara completed the rout with the fifth and final goal in the 86th minute, sealing a resounding victory for Ascentonians FC.
This dominant performance sets a strong tone for Ascentonians FC as they move forward in the competition. They will face Koidu United in their next match on Thursday, 7th November 2024.
Meanwhile, Rising Queens will look to bounce back when they take on SRFA FC today, Wednesday, 6th November 2024, while Bernys FC will also square off against Koidu United in another crucial matchup.
