Speaking to the media, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Central 2 Cycling (C2C), Mohamed Tholley said their donation towards clubs that will be competing in the tour shows the sportsmanship between his club and the other clubs across the country.
“We are not that 100% okay, but the little we have we want to make sure that the clubs match our level. We thought it fit that it should not be all the time C2C at the top level in terms of equipment and the rest. We are trying to promote the other clubs that are down there to come up to match our standard.
“We provided pumps, jerseys, shades, and tights which are customized jerseys, and during the meeting, we made a promotion of the young rider jersey which is not in the tour. We at C2C want to make sure that we try to bring it up to promote the young riders so that the riders will be motivated to compete next year and they will be ready to represent the country in international competition,” he said.
The former national rider who has represented Sierra Leone in several international competitions and is now based in the United Kingdom disclosed that this is not the first time his club is donating to other clubs despite they don’t have any sponsor, noting that all the funds they’ve been spending is generated by the executive.
“We have respect for the clubs and some of us have represented Sierra Leone. As for me, I have love for this sport because it’s like I am giving back to Cycling. I am always passionate about giving back to Cycling. BT/28/4/2023
