Makeni, SIERRA LEONE – In a bold move to transform grassroots football across the continent, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and smartphone giant TECNO have renewed their landmark partnership, reaffirming a joint pledge to renovate 100 football fields across Africa by 2028.

The announcement was made in Nairobi, Kenya, where TECNO also confirmed its return as the Official Global Partner and Exclusive Smartphone Sponsor of CAF. The renewed deal extends to the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in Morocco (2025) and the East African co-hosts—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—in 2027.

At the heart of this renewed partnership lies the “Dream Field Renovation” project—first launched in Abidjan during AFCON 2023. The initiative aims to deliver quality, accessible football infrastructure to underserved communities across the continent, offering young Africans more opportunities to train, play, and dream.

The project aligns with TECNO’s bold “Stop at Nothing” philosophy, which champions youth empowerment, healthy lifestyles, and social development through sport.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, TECNO Vice President Shiming Jiang and CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba jointly reaffirmed their shared vision to use football as a tool for positive change. Jiang described the renewed collaboration as a milestone that goes far beyond commercial interests.

“This partnership is about more than just football,” said Jiang. “It’s about ambition, inclusion, and creating opportunities. Through technology and sport, we aim to shape a brighter, more connected future for Africa’s youth.”

Benjamin Jiang, Vice President of Transsion Holdings—TECNO’s parent company—added that the past collaborations with CAF have proven football’s power to unite communities and ignite dreams, while TECNO’s technology helps connect millions across the continent.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe welcomed the renewed partnership, hailing it as a key pillar in CAF’s strategy to elevate African football to a global stage.

“On behalf of CAF and our 54 member associations, we sincerely thank TECNO for their continued investment in African football,” said Motsepe. “This partnership will not only enhance the prestige of AFCON but also ensure that football reaches new audiences and markets across Africa and beyond.”

With this renewed alliance, TECNO is expected to further amplify its fan engagement efforts, using expanded media and digital platforms to bring the thrill of football closer to Africa’s vibrant and youthful population.

The renewed commitment signals a powerful blend of sport and innovation—building dreams, one football field at a time. ARW/5/7/2025
