Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – FC Kallon’s opponent, FC Douanes of Niger, has withdrawn from the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup competition. FC Kallon was set to face FC Douanes in both legs of the competition at the Southern Arena in Bo City, Sierra Leone, on Sunday, August 27, and September 1, 2023.
The withdrawal comes as a result of the political situation in Niger, and the decision was communicated in a letter addressed to FC Kallon by the head of competition at the Sierra Leone Football Association, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay. The letter confirmed FC Kallon’s automatic qualification to the second round of the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup competition.
FC Kallon will now face the winner between MILO FC from Guinea and Dreams FC from Ghana in the second preliminary round of the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup competition.BT/24/8/2023
