Government Pays Allowances to Shooting Stars Delegation

Date:

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The Government of Sierra Leone has disbursed allowances to the Shooting Stars delegation currently representing the country at the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ismailia, Egypt.

According to information received from the National Sports Authority (NSA), media officer Eric Fomba confirmed that the funds were allocated to cover players’ and officials’ allowances, as well as other match-related expenses.

This development followed the arrival of the Minister of Sports, Augusta James-Teima, and the NSA’s Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, in Ismailia on Monday, 5th May 2025.

The timely payment of allowances is seen as a significant morale boost for the team, which is making its debut appearance at the continental youth tournament. Head Coach Mohamed Kamara and his squad are hopeful of securing qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup — a historic first for the nation. BT/7/5/2025
