Luawa FC Appoints James Fofanah as General Coordinator for 2024/25 Season

Date:

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Luawa FC, a prominent team in Sierra Leone’s Premier League, has appointed James Fofanah, widely known as J.J, as their new General Coordinator. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening the club’s preparations for the 2024/25 Sierra Leone Premier League season. In his new role, Fofanah will oversee the coordination of both the Premier League team and the Elite U20 squad, while also managing activities and programs across all levels within the club.

Fofanah brings a wealth of experience to Luawa FC, having an extensive background in football management. His career includes significant roles at Mighty Blackpool FC, Anti Drugs FC, and the national team. He also served on the Premier League board for three years under three different Chairmen. Notably, Fofanah was a founding member of Real Friends FC in the early 1980s.

His football journey began in 1998 with Mighty Blackpool FC as a Kit Manager. He quickly advanced to roles including Welfare Officer, Assistant Team Manager, and ultimately General Coordinator. After departing Mighty Blackpool FC in 2013, he returned in 2018 and made notable contributions before leaving once again in 2019 to serve as Team Manager for Anti-Drugs FC for a season.

Fofanah’s impact extends beyond club football. In 2019, he was appointed Coordinator for the Leone Stars national team, where he played a crucial role in Sierra Leone’s qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon—a significant achievement for the nation after a 25-year wait. His dedication to national service continues as he remains actively involved with the Leone Stars.

A spokesperson for Luawa FC expressed enthusiasm about Fofanah’s appointment, stating, “We are excited to welcome such an experienced and dedicated individual to our team. We look forward to achieving great success together under his coordination.” BT/18/9/2024
