Man jailed 15 years for unlawful carnal knowledge

A 23 year old miner Junisa Abu of Gbado village, Kandu Leppiama Chiefdom in the Kenema District has been found guilty on a charge of carnal knowledge and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by Justice M.F. Deen Tarawally at the Kenema High Court.
According to Senior State Counsel and Customary Law Officer, Timothy Sowa informed the court that the accused person on Saturday 6th December 2008 at Gbado village unlawfully and carnally knew and abused a girl under the age of 13 years.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the offence but he was found guilty by the court and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with no alternative.
In the same High Court one Momoh Sam a driver’s mate residing at Hotagua Street in Kenema was also found guilty on a similar charge of carnal knowledge and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
