Mano River Union (MRU) Female Tournament Finale Today

Date:

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – All eyes are on the Wusum Stadium in Makeni today, Sunday, December 8, 2024, as the much-anticipated final match of the Mano River Union (MRU) Female Tournament unfolds. Host nation Sierra Leone will face Liberia in a high-stakes showdown, where a win for either side will see them crowned champions of the tournament.

Guinea, however, remains hopeful for a draw or a specific goal margin that could secure their lead and help them emerge as champions despite their earlier 1-1 draw against Liberia on Match Day 5, held on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Both Guinea and Liberia fought hard during that game, but neither team could break the deadlock, leaving the tournament outcome wide open for the final day.

As it stands, Guinea tops the table with 5 points, followed closely by Sierra Leone U-20 with 4 points, while Liberia also sits with 4 points but at the bottom of the standings due to goal difference. The final match between Sierra Leone and Liberia will be decisive in determining the winner of this fiercely contested tournament.

The excitement surrounding the MRU Female Tournament has continued to build, with each team showcasing remarkable talent and determination. The tournament has provided not only thrilling football action but also an opportunity for these nations to come together and promote women’s empowerment through sports.

Thomas Daddy Brima, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), emphasized that the MRU Tournament goes beyond mere competition. “This tournament is about building bridges between the Mano River Union nations and empowering women through sports,” Brima stated.

As the final match approaches, football fans across the region eagerly await to see who will take home the trophy in this captivating tournament, which has united the MRU nations in the spirit of competition and camaraderie. BT/8/12/2024
