Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In a thrilling display of speed and spirit, Mansfield House emerged victorious at the Prince of Wales School’s Centenary Inter-House Athletics Championship on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The historic event, held at the school grounds in Kingtom, marked 100 years of academic and sporting excellence at one of Sierra Leone’s most prestigious institutions.
The championship wasn’t just about medals and records – it was a celebration of legacy. In a special ceremony, the school honored Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Vice President 1, Harold Nat-Johnson, with a Certificate of Appreciation for his unwavering support and contributions to the school’s development.
The event transformed the school grounds into a vibrant reunion, bringing together:
- Current students battling for house pride
- Alumni reliving their school days
- Teachers cheering on the next generation
- Sports fans witnessing POW’s athletic tradition
Proving he’s still got the moves, Nat-Johnson swapped his executive suit for running gear, securing an impressive 2nd place finish in the Old Boys Race. His performance showed that the competitive fire that made him a POW standout still burns bright.
“This championship isn’t just about winning,” said one proud teacher. “It’s about connecting generations and showing our students what they can achieve both on and off the track.”
As Mansfield House celebrated their victory, the real winner was the Prince of Wales School itself – proving that after 100 years, its spirit of excellence runs faster than ever. BT/1/4/2025
