Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The Acting Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE), Ahmed Khanou, has successfully concluded an intensive finance and strategic management module under the prestigious MEMOS (Executive Masters in Sport Organisation Management) program, hosted recently in Cyprus.
The MEMOS program, backed by Olympic Solidarity and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), is designed to empower sports administrators with world-class leadership and management skills. Khanou’s participation in the Finance module underscores NOC/CGA-SLE’s growing commitment to enhancing financial governance within Sierra Leone’s sports institutions.
The Cyprus-based module delivered high-level training on several critical areas, including:
- Financial planning and budgeting for sports organizations
- Sponsorship development and revenue generation
- Financial reporting and transparency
- Risk management and internal controls
- Strategic financial decision-making
- Governance and compliance with international standards
Khanou’s successful completion of this module is expected to translate into improved financial oversight, greater transparency, and more strategic resource management within the NOC/CGA-SLE. It also reflects the organization’s broader vision to align Sierra Leone’s sports governance with global best practices.
“This training is a crucial step toward strengthening our internal systems and ensuring long-term sustainability for our Olympic and Commonwealth programs,” Khanou noted.
The initiative forms part of NOC/CGA-SLE’s ongoing efforts to build capacity and promote good governance across Sierra Leone’s sports ecosystem. BT/5/5/2025
