Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The elected Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Council 160, and Court 136, Juba, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, took their oath of office to serve in the executive for the period 2024 to 2025 in a vibrant ceremony held at the Church Auditorium in Juba, Freetown. The inauguration, which occurred on Sunday, 17th December 2023, following the second mass, featured the handover of a rehabilitated WASH facility by the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Council 160, and Court 136, Juba.
In a significant development, the ceremony marked the groundbreaking for the construction of a banquet hall for the parish and a temple for church meetings.
Expressing his delight over being elected as the Grand Knight of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Council 160 Batch, Juba in Freetown, Brother Dennis Kusi Boampong shared his commitment to promoting the Catholic Faith and supporting charitable endeavours. Brother Boampong revealed his immediate plans, including visiting other churches within the denomination to foster understanding and unity while promoting the Catholic faith.

Similarly, Sister Rachael Gbomor, the newly elected Noble Lady for Court 136 Our Lady Star of the Sea, Juba, described her role as demanding, emphasizing the importance of bringing sisters together to practice and promote the faith. She highlighted the charitable work undertaken by their society, which she described as a Catholic-friendly community. Sister Gbomor expressed confidence in facing her responsibilities, relying on her faith and the strength provided by the Almighty.

Sir Knight Brother Thomas Tingan, Supreme Council Representative to Sierra Leone, attended the ceremony to cut the tape for the construction of the temple by Council 160 and Court 136 of the Noble Order of the Knight of Marshall. He disclosed that the banquet hall, part of the construction, would be available for parish meetings and receptions at a reasonable cost, extending its use to the public.

Before inaugurating the new executive members, Reverend Father Dr. Titus Imojime, the Parish Priest, delivered a sermon emphasizing the importance of knowing one’s purpose in life. Father Imojime urged the congregation to discern their purpose through effective prayer, self-awareness, recognizing their energy and talent, and acknowledging pain and frustration as catalysts for positive action.

In his closing remarks, Father Imojime stressed that understanding one’s purpose is essential for a fulfilled life and encouraged the congregation to connect with God through prayer to reveal their destiny. SKS/19/12/2023
