The Passengers’ Welfare Organization {PAWEL}School of Nursing in Freetown has extended its training services to the regional headquarter town of Kenema City in the eastern region.
Speaking to the press in Kenema the Human Resource and Admin/Manager of PAWEL, Mack Moriba Kamara disclosed that his organization is a non-governmental and non political entity established in the country to train youths as nurses to cater for the medical needs of passengers who involve in road accident cases across the nation. He said the aim of PAWEL School of Nursing is to decentralize and increase the service of their school to the provinces stating that Kenema is amongst the communities that have benefited from their services recently.
PAWEL School of Nursing which is licensed to operate in Sierra Leone has over the years sent its students on job training across the country to treat passengers involved in road accident and other related cases at minimal cost.
Mr. Kamara called on the community people to help the nurses that have been recently transferred to the Dama Surgery at Circular Road in Kenema City to go through their course successfully to help treat road accident patients throughout the country.
Receiving the visitors the doctor in charge of the Dama Surgical Hospital along Circular Road in Kenema City Doctor Sheriff E. Golama assured the trainees from Freetown that the management of the hospital is open for assistance to them in order to help them in their career.
Doctor Golama used the occasion to trace the history of the Dama Surgical Hospital in Kenema City which according to him the hospital was established as a private clinic in 1980 and have since produced outstanding nurses that are now serving the country as professionals at Government and private medical institutions across the country.
Golama encouraged the trainees to do everything they can in order to work within the code of nursing operating in the country so that they can get what they are seeking for at the end of their brief stay in Kenema City.
He called on them to be open minded and put forward whatever doubts them through their course.
