PORT LOKO, Sierra Leone – A highly anticipated election is set to reshape the leadership of the Port Loko City Entertainment Union (PLCEU), as artists across the district prepare to cast their votes this Saturday, June 7, 2025. The polls open at 8:00 AM sharp—signaling a pivotal moment in the cultural life of Port Loko.
In a public statement issued on June 4, the Union’s Secretary-General and Social Media Manager, Osman Sooun Sesay (popularly known as AMB), called on members to participate in the vote with “peace, unity, and responsibility.”
The race for the union’s presidency has narrowed to two compelling figures: Sulaiman Bakarr Sesay, widely known as Prezo Sky, and Lamin Hassan Bangura, who goes by General B-Spark.
General B-Spark, representing the Reliable Camp, is running on a platform of transparency, humility, wisdom, and reform. He positions himself as a candidate committed to rebuilding trust, enforcing structure, and bringing fresh energy to the Union’s operations.
On the other side stands Prezo Sky, the current acting president, whose leadership journey has been anything but quiet. After assuming office in the wake of former president James D.K.’s departure, Prezo Sky’s rise was swiftly challenged by the Reliable Camp, who questioned the legitimacy of his succession.
Yet despite the controversy, Prezo Sky has steered the Union through a difficult transitional phase, maintaining order and ensuring the groundwork for a credible election. His message? Unity, Progress, and Respect—echoed in his campaign slogan: “Trust, Passion, Unity, and Progress.”
As artists prepare to make their voices heard, tensions remain high—but so does hope. Both camps are energized, each promising a future rooted in vision and transformation.
The PLCEU leadership has stressed the importance of a peaceful and informed voting process. “This isn’t just about choosing a president,” said AMB. “It’s about choosing the kind of creative future we want to build together.”
With the cultural heartbeat of Port Loko on the line, Saturday’s election could usher in a bold new era—or reinforce a steady hand at the helm. Either way, the artistic community stands at the threshold of change.
The stage is set. The ballot boxes are ready. The future of Port Loko’s creative leadership lies in the hands of its artists. AIM/6/6/2025
