Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – According to the former Chairperson of constituency 116 in the East of Freetown, Mohamed Balansama Marah the Portee/Rokupa community Centre Project, has received one hundred thousand and one hundred Leones which is 40% of the project funded by Ahmed Gento Kamara for the continuation of the community project.
The Former Chairperson made this statement during an exclusive interview and also on the engagement organized by stakeholders in the community on 11th January 2023 in the East of Freetown.
Mohamed Balansama Marah stated to stakeholders that the main essence of their presence in the engagement is to resolve the perennial conflict of interest that had existed between the two communities, Portee/Rokupa wharfs noting that stakeholders should unify themselves to enhance peace and development so that the community centre project will commence as soon as possible.
The District Chairperson (Chairman) of Freetown, Gbondo Margai during the engagement of the Gento’s community centre project told stakeholders about the significance of unity and development for the said proposed project revealing that conflict in any form does not bring development. He advised stakeholders and youths of the two communities that they must come together for the success and actualization of the project as this is not the first project more will be enhanced for the community.
The two councillors of the wards, (Ward 409 and 408) were not present during the meeting organized by stakeholders of the community.
The councillor for ward 409, constituency 116, Fatmata Cecilia Williams in an interview said on 13th January, 2023, that she was not informed about her ward engagement in the community project centre and none of her committee members or members in the community did not inform her about the meeting held on that day.
