Sierra Leone U-20 Women’s National Team Commences Preparations for WAFU U-20 Tournament

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In anticipation of the forthcoming West African Football Union (WAFU) U-20 Female Tournament in Senegal, the Sierra Leone U-20 Women’s National Team kicked off their training regimen on Monday, May 13th, 2024, with an inaugural session held at the SLFA Academy.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Fatmata Turay, the team embarked on their preparations with enthusiasm and determination. Coach Turay expressed her confidence in the squad’s potential to make a mark in the tournament, emphasizing their collective talent and commitment to excellence.

The selection process saw the identification of 20 promising players drawn from various clubs across Sierra Leone. These young athletes will form the backbone of the national team as they gear up to represent their country on the regional stage.

With the tournament slated to commence from June 20th to June 30th of this year, the team is poised to undergo intensive training sessions and strategic preparations to hone their skills and foster team cohesion.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has pledged unwavering support to the U-20 Women’s National Team, affirming confidence in their capabilities to compete at the highest echelons of regional football.
