Representatives from different sections from Tane Chiefdom, Tonkolili District have expressed frustration in court yesterday over long adjournment of their petition case before Justice Browne Marke.
These representatives have traveled from their various chiefdoms to witness the case when the Judge adjourned the matter to Monday 12th July due to some documents that the Plaintiff Lawyer Leon Jenkins Johnston needs to file to the court for proceedings.
When the matter was called up, the representatives were eager to hear from the Plaintiff John Turay, but unfortunately their hopes were dashed.
Coming down the stairs, they expressed sadness that they are in court because of the poor conduct of the elections, which they described as full of malpractices and irregularities.
They explained that the election was petitioned on the 18 December 2009, five days after the election was held on 13th. They reiterated that the first hearing of the matter was on 23rd June and the second time was on 5th July.
They further questioned why the long delay as Justice Delayed is Justice denied.
It could be recalled that on 13 December 2009 the National Electoral Commission (NEC) conducted the Paramount Chieftaincy elections in the Tane Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Northern Province. Five days later one of the candidates John Turay from Mabamp Ruling House, petitioned Mohamed Bomoh Turay of Makeni Koray Ruling House; Sheka Koroma NEC election Officer and the Provincial Secretary North A.R. Dumbuya for poor conduct of the election.
