The Sierra Leone we should all call for. A Sierra Leone where former Presidents and Heads of state will stand together as Sierra Leoneans in the first place and then as former presidents of our dear country. A Sierra Leone where it will not be centred on issues of political parties but centred on national issues.
When I was in China, I met millions of Chinese who do not care about politics, whether they have democracy or not. All they care about the basic rights their government accorded them and the interaction between members of the Communist Party and others. They are so happy and joyful because peace and tranquility reign.
So in Sierra Leone, we should see ourselves as children of one mother, like our great Madam Yoko of Sierra Leone. A Sierra Leone where the issues would not be centred on individuals and their selfish needs but rather the NEEDS of the people these individuals claim to love and wish to better. A Sierra Leone where the focus shall be on national issues such as: Water and Sanitation, Food, Schools with laboratories, Hospitals, Housing, Good Roads and better streets with lights, Welfare facilities for pregnant women without having to suffer high infant mortality during childbirth, Child care for all, Good pension for those who in their prime contributed towards our country’s GDP and economic growth.
A Sierra Leone, where all the citizens will be given equal opportunities to develop their God given talents. A Sierra Leone we as Sierra Leoneans will not become second class citizens in our own country, because foreigners will not decide what we should eat, wear, say and stay etc. A Sierra Leone where we shall be proud to wear and use what we manufacture; Eat what we produce, Be proud of our rich culture without sacrificing it for foreign ones, A Sierra Leone where foreigners would not corrupt our minds, with their culture in the form of movies and goods that are alien to us. A Sierra Leone we shall rise above Ethnicity and Tribal conflicts and live in harmony and peace. A Sierra Leone where all the tribes and regions will co-exist as one people with common destiny, trying to make use of the resources nature has provided for us to enjoy.
This is what is happening in China where I lived form two years. They come together from all 49 ethnic groups to develop their country, enjoy themselves and work in the interest of the country. Today the country is a power, stretching its hand to help others.
The time has come for us to stop hallow worshipping individuals in our society as if they matter more than us. In the sight of God, whatever he created is GOOD and therefore every individual in Sierra Leone, no matter what your standing in society is, you are GOOD SAYS THE CREATOR OF THE HEAVENS AND EARTH. If you were not good why will they, the politicians come to you every five years to give them your THUMP approval?
Sierra Leone will see the merit of the 1992 Coup which according to the makers was to unite our country and bind us as one nation with the common destiny of building a brighter future for our children and their children. Anything short of this, then the uprising never achieved its aim. Instead of uniting, then I would say has disintegrated us. Let our leaders do what they preach as demonstrated in the picture above. And the time is now when there is too much polarization in the country.
The Asians are a typical example for us to copy if we want to develop and united in the presence of God. The development of East and Southern Africa is because these people are working with the Asians to achieve success. They do not wait for aid from the West because they don’t see themselves as beggars, but people with pride ready to raise themselves from the ashes of war and poverty.
So, as we go through life we’ll see, there is so much that we don’t understand, and the only thing we know is things don’t always go the way we planned. But we’ll see every day that we’ll never turn away, when it seems all our dreams come undone.
If our government is serious to imagine and dream of a better future for this our beloved country, we will always stand they their side, filled with hope and filled with pride, because we are more than we are as we are one family.
If there is so much President Koroma must be, let him be himself and no part of some big plan, because even those who are gone are still with him as he moves on because after three years in office, his journey has only begun if he want to rule another five years.
Our tears of pain, and tears of joy is one thing nothing can destroy because of the pride deep inside that makes us one family no matter the tribe or region we are coming from.
Let all the wisdom to lead us, all the courage that our president need, let him find them when he sees us as one family under the sun.
