Three councilors smash stillness

Three councilors under constituency 97 have revealed to this press their achievements and challenges they are facing since their inception as councilors in their respective wards. Councilor Abibatu Isha Kamara of ward 350 Willington Industrial Estate, councilor Kebe Mansaray of ward 349 and councilor Santigie .T. Kamara of ward 348 are all under constituency 97.     
Speaking to this press, Councilor Abibatu Isha Kamara said she had made many efforts to bring development in her ward. She said her ward has over 200 blind people and they are in different communities under her ward. My ward is the most deplorable in the community she maintained. She explained that inorder  to transform the standard of the ward she embarked in a drainage road construction supported by Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) and National Commission of Social Action (NACSA) and also a physical support was given to her by youths.
Councilor Abibatu said the drainage construction begins from Peacock Farm to Taylor Street. She also stated that her biggest challenges  is that most of the youths are unemployed and because of that they are faced with some community problem like stealing, fighting, gambling, and other vices. She also said that 70% of the blind’s children are not going to school because their parents are using them to assist in begging.
Councilor Kebe of 349 said before he was voted as councilor and the urgent need of the people is good road and to accomplish that he had solicited for funding by development partners .He also stated that there was a positive response and he has already started a new road construction in his ward. He said his people also requested for market and he has written to NACSA and they had approved his proposal. “I have organized a general cleaning every last Saturday in the month  and I am having the fullest support of the youth in the ward and also through my effort I had made City Council to be supplying schooling, and learning materials and furniture to schools in my ward”, he said.
He explained that his challenges are there is no clean pure water, no good road, no Municipal School and also the women are crying for micro finance to start business. He said he is looking forward to the government because they had promised them to renovate the Orogu dam since it is already there. He called on his subjects to exercise patience as development is coming but it is a gradual process.
Councilor Santigie Kamara of ward 348 highlighted that he had made development in the area of promoting education by building a Secondary School called King Fahad Islamic Secondary School, Tassoh Island. He said Guma Valley Water Company had constructed taps in his ward and also NACSA had approved his road proposal he made to them for the second phase of the road construction in his ward.  The Councilor finally disclosed that they lack adequate water supply in his ward and that he is afraid of what would happen in the future as the future leaders of this country are jobless.
