Kingtom Community Clinches Babadi Kamara Inter Community Ramadan Trophy

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The vibrant atmosphere at Kay-Tee field on Saturday, April 27, 2024, witnessed Kingtom Community emerging triumphant in The Babadi Kamara Inter Community Ramadan Trophy. Facing off against Y2K Community, Kingtom displayed exceptional skill and teamwork, securing a convincing victory with a scoreline of three goals to one (3-1). Organized by the Kingtom Football Association, the tournament showcased the spirit of unity and sportsmanship among community teams.

For their outstanding performance, Kingtom Community was awarded Twenty-Five Thousand Leones (25,000) along with 3 footballs, while the runners-up, Y2K Community, received Fifteen Thousand Leones (15,000) and 3 footballs. In the third-place match, Dwarzark Community emerged victorious over Kroo Town Road Community in a penalty shootout, claiming the third-place position and a cash prize of Ten Thousand Leones (10,000).

Expressing his gratitude, Babadi Kamara, the main sponsor of the tournament, commended the organizers and participating teams for their exemplary sportsmanship and conduct throughout the event. Kamara emphasized the tournament’s focus on raising awareness about substance abuse, particularly Kush, urging football enthusiasts, especially young people, to steer clear of harmful drugs and channel their energy into constructive pursuits like sports.

Individual accolades were also bestowed upon outstanding players, with Jusu Kanja of Kingtom Community clinching the prestigious Gold Boot award for his remarkable goal-scoring prowess. Chernor Mohamed Jallon of Y2K Community was recognized as the best player of the tournament for his exceptional contributions on the field. Additionally, Alusine Kamara, also known as Bangla, of Kingtom Community, was honoured as the best goalkeeper of the tournament for his outstanding saves and defensive prowess.

The Babadi Kamara Inter Community Ramadan Trophy not only celebrated football talent but also promoted important social messages, fostering community engagement and unity through the power of sports. BT/28/4/2024
