Mighty Blackpool Hosts Kamboi Eagles in Crucial Opener as Leone Rock Premier League Second Leg Kicks Off Today

Date:

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The second leg of the 2024/25 Leone Rock Premier League resumes today, Friday, May 9, 2025, with two exciting fixtures lined up. In a crucial relegation battle, Mighty Blackpool will host Kamboi Eagles at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom.

Kamboi Eagles, based in Kenema, have brought 20 players to Freetown for the second-leg opener. Supporters of the club remain optimistic. According to Ibrahim Kamara, a passionate fan of the Eagles, the team ended the first round on a high note and is determined to carry that momentum into today’s encounter.

As it stands, Kamboi Eagles sit in 14th position on the league table with 18 points from 17 matches, having recorded three wins, nine draws, and five losses. Their opponents, Mighty Blackpool, are currently in 16th place — a relegation spot — with 16 points, also from 17 matches. A win today could lift Blackpool out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other fixture, Abacha City FC will face Bullom Stars FC at the Approved School field. Abacha City, currently 9th on the table with 22 points, will look to strengthen their mid-table position. Bullom Stars, in 15th place with 18 points, are also fighting to escape the drop zone. A victory for them could provide a much-needed boost in their survival campaign.

The league action continues on Saturday, May 10, with two more matches. Freetown City FC will host FC Kallon at the Approved School field, while Old Edwardians will welcome Bo Rangers at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom. BT/9/5/2025
