National inflation goes up by 0.20% Statistics SL

Sierra Leone: According to Statistics Sierra Leone, annual inflation has increased by 0.20% from 9.60% in April 2021 to 9.80%. On the other hand, monthly inflation has dropped down by 2.29% from 2.73% in April is 0.44%.

As a result May year-on-year national inflation rate went up but remain at single digit. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows that Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased from 15.64% in April to 17.56 percent in May.

The inflation rate increased by 1.92 percentage points year-on-year. Restaurant and Hotels increased from -0.45% in April to 2.64% in May 2021. The year-on-year inflation rate increased by 3.09% points.

On the other hand, clothing and footwear declined by 4.06% from 10.55% in April 2021 to 6.49% in May 2021. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics also dropped by 1.57% from 13.80% in April 2021 to 12.23% in May 2021. SKS/05/07/2021
