Makeni, SIERRA LEONE – As the East End Lions Football Club secures their spot in the highly anticipated 2023/24 Sierra Leone FA Cup grand finals against Bo Rangers, coach Safro Castro asserts that his team’s determination to clinch the title surpasses that of their rivals.
Speaking exclusively to Awoko Newspaper following their hard-fought 4-3 post-game penalty victory against FC Kallon at the SLFA Academy playing field, the Ghanaian-born coach shared insights into his team’s mindset and preparation for the upcoming showdown.
Reflecting on their narrow win over FC Kallon in the crucial semi-finals clash, Castro acknowledged the challenge posed by “The Cavaliers,” emphasizing the importance of learning from every game and rectifying mistakes for future encounters.
Ahead of their clash with Bo Rangers, currently leading the national top-flight, Castro praised his opponents’ performance while highlighting East End Lions’ dominance in Sierra Leone football. He pointed to their previous victory over Bo Rangers in the Leone Rock Premier League as evidence of the challenges they anticipate in the FA Cup final.
“We were able to overcome Bo Rangers Football Club in the first round, which showcased the hurdles we’ll face in the Sierra Leone FA Cup. Our hunger for the FA Cup surpasses theirs, though we understand it won’t be an easy feat,” stated Castro.
As the FA Cup final draws near, Castro reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the team’s shortcomings to secure victory over Bo Rangers at the Port-Loko Stadium on May 4.
