Sierra Leone News: APC Western Area surprised me – Osman Yansaneh

Date:

All Peoples Congress (APC) Secretary General, Alhaji Osman Yansaneh, said the crowd he saw yesterday was a surprise to him as he never thought the Stadium would be so jam packed to the point that they had to beg supporters to come down from the stands.
“What I saw yesterday gave me the greatest of confidence that we are going to win the elections first round. After yesterday I am at peace with myself and know that come Wednesday night we will start partying as we would have won the elections.”
The Secretary General said the reason that thousands of APC supporters came out was to send a message to the SLPP that the noise and confidence they had should go up as smoke because when APC is out.
“We did our best to marshal our supporters and our rally was largely peaceful and we proved to the world how serious we are to retain power. We have shown that there is no contest for us because the people knew we had worked for them and they are going to vote for us again come Wednesday.”
Yansaneh said they are finally rounding up their campaign in the provinces and President Koroma will be finishing his thank you tour until the 5th, which is next Monday in Makeni where they will end up before the cooling-off day.
“We started working for these elections in 2007 when we won and from that time we have not relented, working for the good of the country, improving electricity, expanding education and constructing roads. We fought the ebola to a logical conclusion and we relocated the landslide victims and the Free Health Care that we implemented has been appreciated by thousands of women. It is because of all these things and the raise in salary that the people are going to vote for us again.”
The Secretary General said some people are saying times are hard but they failed to realized that when a bag of rice was Le70,000 the basic salary was Le30,000, now a bag of rice is Le250,000 but the basic salary is Le500,000. This means during our time citizens can buy a bag of rice and still have money to spend.”
He called all their supporters to make sure they collect their voter cards if they have not done so and they must vote with an X of a tick in the first box, which is Samura Kamara. “You can thump print but please do not sign or vote for two persons, if you do that the vote will be void.” AT/1/3/18
